Jump back into bridge building with truss bridges

  1. Intro
    • Truss bridges are a little more complicated than beam bridges
    • Start out by showing your students photos of truss bridges and ask them what the commonalities are
    • All truss bridges are based on triangles
  2. Prompt
    • Try building a truss bridge
    • Your students will have to create supports to implement the triangular aspect
    • Allow 10-30 minutes for this activity, depending on the age and skill level of your students
    • Do a Gallery Walk - there are many variations to how to create truss bridges
