Easy Lesson Plan: Demolition Time

What's even more fun than building a tower? Knocking it down!
Challenge your students to not just consider how they build the tower, but also how the tower will fall. There are so many ways to destroy your KEVA structures, each method exciting and educational!
Tower destruction is particularly important for engineers when designing buildings in earthquake-prone areas. Understanding forces and structure durability is crucial to people's safety in both neighborhoods and sky scrapers.
First, a basic rule: you can only knock down what you build, unless you have the permission of the builder.
Make sure you film the tower destructions in slow motion so you can watch the whole process!
Here are some demolition styles to try:
- Push the tower over
- Throw soft objects (balls, socks, etc) at the tower
- Sweep a rope underneath it
- Fly drones or drive robots into the tower
- Build a tower around someone and have them break through
- See how many blocks you can remove before the tower falls
- Use a domino effect or chain reaction to knock it down
